Who supplies the steel and what we are responsible for
SteelFromTurkey supplies flat steel sheet, coil and plate from Turkey. You send the RFQ to us, we confirm the specification and document scope, we issue the quotation, and we carry the order through certificate coordination, export packing, documentation and shipment.
The steel itself is produced by Turkish mills and processed by service centres. The mill certifies the product against the ordered standard and grade; SteelFromTurkey is responsible for matching your specification to a route that can certify it, for the completeness of the export document set and for the commercial terms of the order.
Read this as a division of responsibility rather than a claim of ownership over mill assets. Where a certificate, test report or approval is issued by another party, that party is named in the document ownership table below.
What we own
Specification review, mill or service-centre route selection, quotation, document scope, export packing and marking instructions, shipment coordination and after-order communication.
What others own
Mill test certificates are issued by the producing mill. Third-party inspection reports are issued by the inspection company the buyer nominates. Origin documents are issued by the competent authority.
Why Turkey
Why source flat steel from a Turkey-based supplier
Turkey is a practical sourcing base for buyers that need flat steel close to European, Middle Eastern and Central Asian trade lanes. The country combines steelmaking capacity, service-center processing, export documentation experience and port access through routes such as Gemlik, Izmir, Istanbul and Iskenderun.
Invest in Turkiye reports 36.9 million tons of steel production in 2024, the world's 7th-largest and Europe's largest steel-producer position as of 2025, USD 16.1 billion in steel-sector exports, and 32.8% flat products in the steel export mix.
SteelFromTurkey supplies against EN, ASTM and ISO-oriented specifications, confirms the quality document scope for the order, plans the shipment and publishes the buyer-side checklist below so the requirement can be qualified before the quote.
Regional access
Turkey's location helps buyers compare regional supply against Asian and Western European routes for Europe, the Middle East and Central Asia.
Document-led sourcing
Quality should be confirmed by standard, grade, certificate, inspection scope and shipment document package, not by country label alone.
Supply scope
What we supply
Our supply scope is flat products: hot rolled and cold rolled sheet and coil, steel plate, stainless flat products, galvanized and coated sheet, and aluminium sheet and plate. Long products, tube and profiles are outside this scope.
This page does not repeat the family-by-family comparison. If you are still deciding which product family fits the application, the flat steel product catalogue carries the forms, standards and RFQ fields for each family side by side, and the flat steel sourcing guide explains how to narrow the choice. Use the routes below when the product is already known.

Review aluminium routeQuality responsibility
Who issues each quality document
Quality on an export order is evidenced by documents, and each document has a specific issuing party. The table below states who issues what, so the certificate scope can be agreed before order confirmation rather than after shipment.

| Document or approval | Issued by | SteelFromTurkey responsibility |
|---|---|---|
| EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificate | The producing mill | Confirm before order confirmation that the selected route issues 3.1 for the ordered grade, then deliver it with the shipment document set. |
| EN 10204 3.2 certificate | The producing mill together with the independent body or buyer representative named in the order | Confirm whether the selected route supports 3.2 and coordinate the issuing parties. Where a route cannot support 3.2, we say so before quotation. |
| Third-party inspection report | The inspection company nominated by the buyer, such as SGS, Bureau Veritas, TÜV or Intertek | Coordinate access, hold points, timing and documentation. We do not issue the inspection report. |
| Product standard compliance, for example EN 10025 or ASTM A240 | Defined by the published standard and evidenced by the mill certificate | Match the RFQ to a mill route able to certify the requested standard and grade. The standard is a product requirement, not a SteelFromTurkey credential. |
| Certificate of origin | The competent chamber of commerce or issuing authority | Apply for the document and include it in the export set. |
| Packing list, commercial invoice, bill of lading | The exporting party and the carrier | Prepare and provide the export document set in line with the agreed Incoterm and destination requirements. |
State the certificate type early
EN 10204 3.1 is available on many flat-steel routes. EN 10204 3.2, witness inspection or additional test reports must be stated before quotation, because they change the route and the price basis.
Define the inspection scope
Document review, dimensional checks, visual inspection, coating verification, packing inspection and pre-shipment inspection can be built into the order when the scope, the nominated company and the hold points are defined before order confirmation.
Supplier checklist
What to check before choosing a steel supplier Turkey
A useful steel supplier Turkey evaluation should help procurement teams reduce risk before they send a purchase order. Use this checklist before choosing a flat-steel partner.
| Checkpoint | What to confirm before quote |
|---|---|
| Product scope | The supplier covers flat steel sheet, coil and plate, not only long products or unrelated steel forms. |
| Standards | EN, ASTM, ISO or project-standard requirements are reviewed against the exact grade and form. |
| Certificates | MTC type, EN 10204 3.1 or 3.2 need, heat or batch traceability and inspection document scope are clear. |
| Inspection | Third-party inspection, dimensional checks, coating checks and packing inspection are defined before order. |
| Incoterms | FOB Turkish port, CFR or CIF destination basis is agreed with port and cargo route clarity. |
| MOQ and quantity | Minimum order, coil weight, sheet pack size or release schedule fits the buyer's project. |
| RFQ response | The supplier asks for missing technical fields instead of quoting from incomplete information. |
Quote-ready RFQ
What makes an RFQ quote-ready
An RFQ is quote-ready when every field that changes the route or the price basis is present. The table below is the minimum set. Anything missing is asked back, which adds a round trip before pricing.
Once the RFQ is complete, SteelFromTurkey reviews the technical fields, confirms the suitable Turkish mill or service-centre route, agrees the documentation and inspection scope, and returns a quotation with price basis, lead time and delivery term. After order confirmation the order moves through allocation or production, certificate coordination, inspection where required, export packing, documentation and shipment.

| RFQ field | Why it changes the quotation |
|---|---|
| Product form and standard or grade | Determines which mill or service-centre route can be used at all, and which certificate the route can issue. |
| Thickness, width, length or coil weight and coil ID | Sets the rolling or processing route, the tolerance class and the achievable pack format. |
| Surface, finish, coating or edge condition | Black, pickled and oiled, oiled, dry, mill edge or trimmed edge each route differently and are priced differently. |
| Quantity and size mix | Sets whether the order is a mill-rolling quantity or a service-centre quantity, which moves both lead time and price basis. |
| EN 10204 certificate type | 3.1 and 3.2 are not interchangeable. The certificate type must be agreed before the route is confirmed. |
| Inspection and test requirement | Third-party inspection, additional testing and hold points change the schedule and require a nominated inspection company. |
| Packing and marking requirement | Export packing, seaworthy packing, bundle size and marking instructions affect cost and loading plan. |
| Incoterm, destination and shipment window | EXW, FOB, CFR, CIF and DAP quote against different cost bases; destination and timing decide the routing and freight. |
Export logistics
Export terms and logistics: FOB, CFR and CIF
Flat-steel export pricing depends on Incoterm, port route, cargo readiness, packing and destination. SteelFromTurkey can review RFQs for FOB Turkish port, including FOB Iskenderun, FOB Gemlik, FOB Izmir or FOB Istanbul where the confirmed route supports it. CFR and CIF destination port quotations can also be reviewed when the buyer wants freight included in the offer.
FOB means the buyer normally controls the main freight after loading at the named Turkish port. CFR includes ocean freight to the named destination port, while CIF adds marine insurance under the quoted basis. Do not rely on published indicative FOB prices for flat steel; send current grade, size and quantity details for verified pricing.

FAQ
Steel supplier Turkey questions
Is Turkish steel good quality?
Yes, when the order is tied to the right standard, grade, mill route and documentation. Flat steel can be supplied to EN, ASTM and ISO-oriented requirements with mill test certificates such as EN 10204 3.1 on request. Quality should always be confirmed by certificate and inspection scope.
What is the minimum order for flat steel?
Minimum order depends on grade, format, mill route, processing, packing and destination. Send grade, standard, dimensions, format and quantity in one RFQ, and SteelFromTurkey will confirm the practical MOQ, coil or sheet-pack basis, lead time and quotation route.
Which flat-steel grades and standards can you supply?
Common RFQs include hot rolled and cold rolled sheet and coil, stainless sheet or plate in 304, 316L and 430, steel plate and aluminium sheet. Relevant standards may include EN 10025, EN 10130, EN 10088, ASTM A1008, ASTM A1011, ASTM A240, EN 485 and ASTM B209, depending on the exact product.
How do I get a steel quotation from Turkey?
Send one RFQ with product family, grade, standard, thickness, width, format, quantity, surface or finish, certificate need, packing, destination port and preferred Incoterm. We review the specification, confirm the Turkish mill or service-centre route that can meet it, then return a quotation with price basis, lead time and required documentation.
Can you ship to my port under FOB, CFR or CIF?
Yes. SteelFromTurkey can review FOB Turkish port, CFR and CIF destination port requirements when the supply route supports the cargo plan. Common Turkish port references include Iskenderun, Gemlik, Izmir and Istanbul, with final routing confirmed by product, location, quantity and packing.
